Each woven basket in the set was handcrafted over the course of four-five days.

Before the straw reaches the artisan, it goes through a matriarch grass farmer and grass sorter. Woven Pot Baskets are a great alternative to mass-produced, machine-made woven baskets. It's both a work of art and a practical storage solution for blankets, toys, and other items.

Origin

Handcrafted by Titan basket weaving artisans in Ghana, brought to you by a woman-owned, small business in Toronto, Canada.

Your Woven Worldwide item will maintain its handcrafted qualities if it is not directly exposed to damp or wet environments. Repeated contact with water will cause the appearance of the reed in the woven product (whether it is in its authentic reed or pigmented) to experience discolouration. Prolonged pressure from heavy objects will cause the shape of the product to be distorted. It is best to limit the exposure of such elements to preserve the authentic look and feel of your product.

When using cosmetics, perfumes or any alcohol-based solutions such as hand sanitizers, please take time to be sure that they are dry on your skin before engaging with Woven Worldwide products.

There are sometimes tone variations in the colour of the reed and this is a natural feature due to when the grass was harvested. The basket's new home will most likely be in a climate other than the one in which it was made. The reed's tri-tone nature may appear in tones ranging from pale green to mustard to raw honey, which may age as it oxidizes in it's new home. This is also determined by the date the grass was harvested. This is a normal maturation process for straw; it is not a flaw or blemish.

Due to the natural characteristics of elephant grass, each woven basket may have a slight variation in reed colour. When the grass was harvested, woven, and how long it was allowed to dry in the sun determine this. The natural reed gradient ranges from pale green to beige to mustard yellow. This gradient is a beautiful natural feature that should be admired.
